Ensuring Stability and Legal Clarity for Shipowners

We provide shipowners with stability and legal clarity through comprehensive labour agreements that uphold fair working conditions for seafarers. Our agreements guarantee that crew members receive fair wages, proper training, and a safe working environment while protecting them from discrimination and exploitation. To achieve this, ver.di and ITF negotiate labour agreements with shipping companies, including:

-     Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA): These agreements     define the     terms and conditions of employment for crew members     on board.
-     Special Agreements: These legally bind shipowners to the     applicable CBA and outline their obligations.

These agreements are renewed annually or biennially for each vessel, ensuring continuous compliance with industry standards. Additional agreements may also regulate on-board training conditions for cadets and trainees.

By upholding these agreements, we help shipowners maintain smooth, legally compliant operations while fostering a fair and sustainable working environment at sea.
